  • Macufe (Mangaung African Cultural Festival) is an annual arts and cultural festival successfully staged by the Department since 1997. The 1999 Macufe took place in Bloemfontein from 13 to 17 October. For more information on Macufe contact Arnold Lubbe at (051) 4054680.

  • Mamabana Cultural Centre situated in Thaba Nchu pro-actively seeks to create and develop an environment in which the unfolding of naturally-given talents can be optimally realized. Apart from the Art faculty, it offers quilting and sewing, dance, sport, drama and music - all at a nominal fee.   • Musicon (Free State Academy of Music), situated in First Avenue, Bloemfontein became part of the Department in April 1999 and is responsible for music tuition, concentrating on school going children. Two other Cultural Centres were recently opened in Thabong and in Zamdela.

Technology Services

Communal Information Technology Centre (CITC), an Information Technology Training Centre in Welkom is a joint venture in the field of IT, between the British Government and the Free State Government that empowers and prepares job seekers for the labour market.
